    Found the invoices from this project. The parallam was $311, the Simpson column caps were $90 ea x2, the T&G ply was $220, and the rest of the lumber came out to ~$400. Toss in fasteners and grand total was probably around $1250. Not bad for ~220+ square feet of "wasted space"!

    One idea is to simply mount them up above head height? Unlikely to get knocked about and easy enough to put back down where they belong if you need to.
