    30X40X12 - After Fire Rebuild

Hey Mark...Sorry for the slow reply, Ive been travelling with work. I asked for self-tapping wood to metal screws at the local lumber yard. They're 3-3.5" long and don't require predrilling. I did find they go through the metal much easier with my impact driver rather than with a standard...

    30X40X12 - After Fire Rebuild

Hi Mark -- Thanks for dropping in and your kind comments. To answer your questions...Yes, the picture you selected was the primary method used for attaching the upper parts of the walls. As to why we ran the studs in the standard manner rather than flat....That was me just not knowing any...

    30X40X12 - After Fire Rebuild

Thanks jbmatth! See answers to the questions above. No progress on the addition yet. I've made several changes to the Sketchup drawings, but no real epiphanies worth sharing. I don't have a whole lot of extra room on the lot, so I need to make the most of the space that's there.

Hi Jeff....Sorry for the late reply. Looks like I'm a little behind again! First off - Thanks for compliements...It's been a fun ride. Second - I'm in IT. Lately I'm dealing more with getting info out of the systems we run our business with and less with the hardware, networking and servers...

Hey SB! Glad you posted....I hadn't been by your thread in a while. Sad to hear there's not much going on in the Station, but I understand the call of the "Honey Do"!:D What you've done to this point is quite amazing....the backyard is looking really nice too! Hope you find some time to...

    Salt Life Hideout

Hey Wingnut - It's been a while again...I was expecting to see pictures of a shiny, restored bus cruising the Florida beaches. Instead I see you've been off visiting Red Leader and creating an incredible entertainment center! Nice job on the design....I have to admit I was surprised...

    30X40X12 - After Fire Rebuild

Thanks Eric! I used the 3M EXL Deburring wheel (medium) on all the shiny bits. I don't have a "Fine", but would think you could get a more polished finish. The medium leaves a bit of a "brushed" finish....and I like it! The wheel looks like a standard grinding wheel, but it's a bit soft...

    30X40X12 - After Fire Rebuild

Hi vtec?lol - Thanks for the kind words. Proving I'm not a true Ford guy, I had to Google Old Body Style (OBS) Ford. I guess I was the only one in my family that liked it. It was a 1997, 460 Gas motor, 5 speed and 6" OME lift. I kept it around for a year or so, used it a little on the farm...

    30X40X12 - Addition - Need Advice & Ideas

Thanks for the thoughts Bob. I've been looking at lots of long, narrow garages on here and I agree, it could be a challenge if I had something all torn apart. I'm thinking the depth might help with that though. I could potentially go deeper and once i get past the north end of the building, I...

    30X40X12 - Addition - Need Advice & Ideas

Thanks Eric...If I gather up enough .02c, I'll eventually have something! The wood working area will definitely be separate, but I'm very undecided about the tool room. I thought I had seen several on GJ, but I haven't been able to locate anything in recent searches. I may just keep the...

    My Texas Dream Garage

Is it next week yet? I think that post was from September! I haven't been keeping up lately and have spent the last few weeks checking in on some of my old favorites. Hope all is well with the water business. Does it slow down much in the winter season? Give us an update as time allows...

    The "pedestrian" garage

Wouldn't the appropriate time for a gathering be DURING the insulating nightmare!:lol_hitti Since I'm far enough away to beg off, I just thought I'd throw that out there! Nothing fun about insulating (obstacles or no obstacles), but it's amazing the difference a good insulation job makes. The...
