The original USA Petersen 6LN vise grips have the patent number on the handle. Part of the patent states "through jaw hardness range of from about 53 to about 57 Rockwell C". No doubt the Chinese made versions don't have this pat number stamped 4541312 because maybe they are not through hardened?
