Help me pick a combo wrench set!

So I sent the Wrightgrip 752 back to the vendor and asked them to inspect the other sets they had to ensure that I wouldn't be sent another set with these defects. After waiting some time, they reported that all sets they had in stock exhibited the same defects I reported (water spots on the 9...

What brand Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter is worth buying?

I've always used Magnaflow, which is one of the more highly regarded brands when it comes to aftermarket cat converters. Still, you can't expect the life from them that you can get from an OE converter. We installed a Magnaflow cat on my SO's daily driven Volvo 2 1/2 years ago after it...

    Offset wrench tool recommendation..

I've been on the lookout for something similar as well. The best combination of value and quality that I've been able to find in something with sufficiently deep offset is the Proxxon 23810 set. It is made in Taiwan and can be had for right around $60...

How many ratchets do you own?

Re: How many ratchets do you own ? Only 8. 4 SK's, which I absolutely love. 3 are Stanleys, which came in a big kit. I absolutely despise these because they like to change direction at random. There is also a cheapo no-name Taiwan ratchet, which seems pretty tough, but is not very nice to use.

SK Pro Goodness. I already had the palm control, but the other three are new to me as of today:

    Least used metric wrench sizes

My Saab uses tons of 16 mm and 18 mm. As others said, get set that covers all sizes. 99% of my automotive work experience is with Swedish cars, but I have used every size wrench from 7 mm all the way to 21 mm. I imagine that German cars are much the same.

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

I completely agree that Wright could not carry the reputation that they do if they were consistently putting stuff like this out. A couple of the wrenches in my set are basically flawless. Like the OP, my 9 mm and 12 mm have the same problems. My 9 mm has the worst water spots and my 12 mm...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

I just went to make a more thorough inspection of my set and was appalled at what I found. The 21 mm wrench is already rusting :shocking: ! All of the wrenches also have scuffs on the polished heads (I don't know at what point these are considered normal vs. being a manufacturing defect)...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

I also bought a Wright metric 752 set recently. While they feel very nice overall, I definitely noticed some problems with the finish on them. My 12 mm is peeling just the same way as yours is and several of the other wrenches have these water spots, but not quite as bad as yours. One of the...

Help me pick a combo wrench set!

Yes, the 752 set has Wright Grip on the open end. The ends on these wrenches are the nicest I've ever seen. They look and feel super precise.

Help me pick a combo wrench set!

So I bought the Wright 752 set and overall, I am happy with them. The chrome on the polished ends is not perfect, but I figure that they may have been hitting each other while en route to me. All of the wrenches feel very nice in my hands and I can tell they're going to be comfortable to use...

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Thanks Jeff. This makes me feel a ton better about them. Thanks for the compliments. I believe it's more the camera than it is my photography skills though. The better shots above were taken in macro mode using a Pentax KX SLR with a standard 18-55 kit lens. This camera is an absolute boss...

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

That makes me feel better about it. I've never seen a socket with this issue, so I was a bit alarmed when I saw it. I think I'll keep this set and just try not to look down inside the socket at the ugliness  . The Wiha set is nice (and expensive), but doesn't include the E20, which I'd...

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Grrr. I paid a few bucks more for the USA made stuff, expecting it to be better. I can return the Lisle, buy this set and break even. What would GarageJournal do? There aren't many choices out there when it comes to an E-Torx set that covers the smallest size I need (E5 for Volvo ABS modules...

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

I recently bought a set of USA made Lisle external torx sockets so I can do Saab brakes, control arms, and other oddball stuff. I know these aren't necessarily top shelf tools, but I do expect a reasonable level of quality from them. I got to looking at them today and noticed that there is a...
