I utilized the oak flooring for the top of my bench in my race shop. I built 2 x 4 structure frame underneath on 2' centers then put down 3/4" OSB finishing with the oak. This top can take everything I can dish out including transmissions, cylinder heads and fabrication.
One thought to this post, I put a utility tub in to a simple drum in the ground system for drainage. For water to the tub I tied to the main line of the sprinkler system. Works well for cleaning up after painting and I don't have to worry about freezing water pipes in the winter since the system...
Meant to post that pic in the "show your bench". I had the exterior of the shop put up (pole building and ALOT of cement) then I did all the finish work in the interior. I custom built the bench with Rockler slides on all the drawers and the top is 3/4" OSB board topped with 3/4" Oak flooring...
Just finished the bench in the race shop.
I did all the finish work inside the shop after the pole barn was up. I built the bench as well, of course it is over built including dovetail joints and Rockler slides on all the drawers and the top is constructed with 3/4" OSB topped with 3/4" red oak...
I had 150' x 12' drive along with 32' x 70' pad poured totaling a little over 4,000 sq. ft it cost me $11,000 and it is the best work I have seen in a while. Located in SW Michigan.
The method I went with was a bit of a compromise but works for me. I tied into the main line of the irrigation system. I have water the entire time it is active and then blow it out with the system for the winter. No freezing issues and that time frame works for me.
I just completed the ceiling in my 32 x 40 and one of the big time savers was utilizing my cordless impact to put in the self tapping screws. It worked 10X better then a drill.
Menard's had the kits on sale recently and I picked up three of them to do one single and a double door. Started cutting with a knife but quickly switched to using the table saw since 80% were one height and the other 20% were another. Kicked out both doors in 2 hrs, very happy with the results.
The dozer will be taking care of the stump, and I have someone lined up for $500 to drop the tree, cut the large stuff to fireplace size and clean up all the brush. Thanks for all the replys
Just starting the build on my 32' x 40' race shop/man cave. Presently dropped about 6 big oaks but have one left between my neighbor's house and mine that is right in the middle of the proposed driveway. It is about 24" across and 60' anybody have have input on what they have paid to have...
