Help Identify tool that has stumped thousands

Could be something that kind of reminds me of what my dad would do to help with his arthritis, make a unique fixture for something as he is a one man shop. With the cutouts placed how they are placed for the ‘jaws’ could it have held a draw knife by the handles so it could be sharpened? Would...

Help Identify tool that has stumped thousands

Is there any wear marks on the bottom of the ‘jaws’ or maybe around the cutouts on the hinge cradle?

How do you guys organize all your sections of hoses?

I have a 2ft deep pigeon holes setup for scrap metal cutoffs that I have one of them for all my hose sections and seems to work for the tiny amount I keep there and just plug or tape the ends to keep **** out. I only have a little bit of fuel line and some large vinyl for drainage/misc abrasion...

Stuck Picking My Next Tool Box

Honestly between your choices I wouldn’t be worried about any of the boxes failing you. I think I’ve seen more boxes meet their maker from a caster getting dropped into a gutter and bending frames or backed into with a forklift (or trailer I guess in your case). I definitely wouldn’t skip on...

Stuck Picking My Next Tool Box

Yeah if your box doesn’t have to move the deep 72’s are nice for sure then! Don’t forget pics when you have it filled

Stuck Picking My Next Tool Box

Styrke is a Chinese box built in Canada so that’s what helps with the price. They’re local and nice enough but seem to be putting out revisions every new batch they bring in which is good but you don’t really know what version you’re getting or how it will compare. I would just do a grey box as...

    Malco Eagle Grip pliers

They’ve been in progress since May 2018 so I would guess they’re not going anywhere and they just didn’t want to spend the money to update their website with negative news.

    paint type for interior wall

I have had good luck with the sherwin Williams semi gloss light French grey. Mostly cleans up fine and doesn’t show dirt too bad

    Some ramble about shops

Well that was a read and a half. I know someone said it previously in the thread that “not everyone was interested in the end product” at the billion dollar shop is I think true for shops of all sizes and types from hobby motorcycle garages to a Pratt and Whitney jet plant. Seems like a lot of...

Aftermarket power tool batteries - any good recommendations?

So much this. Even in Canada we have battery shops who will just replace cells so I would assume it’s a damn near universal service. Tried the Amazon route before and was frustrated to no end with low power / inaccurate charge indicators so never again for me.

Fasten workbench to floor or wall

Anchor to the wall but maybe an X-brace under the table on the legs to prevent the twisting from reefing of the vise?

    Cutting 3" solid aluminum

If you have any steel pipe it would fit through you can slide the aluminum bar through and use the steel pipe as a guide and should be okay but it will not be a quick process but could beat running into town or having to cough up $30 for the cuts. Even with a bandsaw the last cuts will be tricky...

The Tool You Don't Want to Need: First Aid Kit

Totally eyewash station, not sure what everyone else is doing in the garage but little bandaids or even a burn I’m into the kitchen for cold water or bandaids but **** in your eye, running a pressure bleeder, coolant system work etc it’s something I would want ASAP

How to seal a garage door better?

The weatherstripping on the outside needs to be refreshed periodically and I found mine really sealed well after taking the time to reposition the strips on the outside and have a bit of tension pushing in. The new strips were also a lot more pliable as well which helped I’m sure but it seals...

Hex & Torx Bit Socket Sets

I just picked up a Tekton 1/4 drive hex set from 2-8mm and they are worlds better than the Stanley black chrome tire/hex full drive set. Not saying much but I wouldn’t be afraid of the tekton
