    VCT flooring?

I am coming up to 11 years with an Armstrong VCT garage floor. My garage was already 15 years old, oil stained and grubby, minor cracks only and fairly level. Its all explained, with photos, on this site. Yes, I am still very happy with it. Yesterday I washed it with a sponge mop and used the...

Getting ready to pull the trigger on VCT - Quick Question

Twice a year I damp mop/clean my VCT garage floor and then mop on some more liquid polish. For 550 sq ft its a 45 minute task. Not really a lot of maintenance. A jug of sealant cost me $22 and I used the old mop to seal my floor after its initial install.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on VCT - Quick Question

Rob, I used the same 750 adhesive on my VCT install in July 2006. In all this time we have had no tiles shifting, moving or cracking. My wife is prone to cranking on the steering wheel as she is parking her car on the VCT, so far with no nasty side effects. I sealed and polished my new floor...

How do you guys clean VCT tile.....

Geez, you guys must like working. In 7 years all I have done is use Armstrong Floor Cleaner, applied with a damp mop. When dry, I follow up with some Armstrong Floor Polish also spread with a damp mop. After 5 years I used an Armstrong floor stripper to remove the built up wax and started...

    VCT tile installation

My wife and I laid 540 sq ft in half a day, the full garage floor. Towards the end I concentrated on cutting edge tiles while she did the rows. I finished off by rolling the entire surface, rental roller. Yes, I too am a fat old man. :rocker:

Looking for long-term review of VCT

I did my VCT floor in July 2006. The tile was installed on a 15 year old stained concrete floor. A few times a year I wash and polish it using Armstrong products and a sponge mop, no fancy machinery. No tiles have broken, shifted or lifted in this time. We do have winter here with some snow...

    Bit the bullet...VCT!!!

My install was 550 sq ft, similar costs but I also rented a tile cutter and roller for a total of $75, didn't chip any tiles. It cost me an additional $60 for baseboard moulding, contact cement and transition strips for the area from the concrete floor by the garage doors to the front edge of...

Another VCT install (Vinyl Composition Tile)

Thanks, the grey tile wasn't designed to match the car, just looks that way. Although a little dated, here is a link to my car build, suspension, brakes, supercharger, paint and stripes, some track days. The car pretty much looks the same way now. The yellow 92 belongs to my wife...

Another VCT install (Vinyl Composition Tile)

I'm not sure of his but my VCT floor is now coming up to 7 years old and is holding up very well. I haven't replaced a single tile. None have cracked or lifted. There is a slight brown tire stain where each car is parked but they are on dark tiles so not as noticeable. In the next month or...

    Armstrong VCT - Which adhesive?

Mattthew, I used the S-750 and it has held up very well over my concrete floor. It turns from milky to clear when ready for the tiles. This helped me at the time. I know nothing about the S-515

    Your thoughts on VCT?

Jack stands will leave permanent outline marks on VCT. I have some thin metal panels or carpet pieces I place on the tiles for such situations. If you aren't concerned about keeping your floor pretty such precautions aren't necessary. For me the downsides are cosmetic. Anything I have...

    Your thoughts on VCT?

I live in the Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada. My VCT floor has held up well since I installed it in July, 2006. My garage is insulated but not heated. One car is stored for the winter while the other is driven year round. I have had no tiles lift, crack or need replacing. Tires will quickly...

VCT Tiles and Two Post Lifts

Installed VCT in my 500 sq ft garage in 2006. In spite of my wife's habit of cranking on the steering wheel when her car is already parked in the garage still no signs of tiles having moved, lifted or cracked.

    VCT Tile

My concrete floor was 15 years old and badly stained. I used a sealer as recommended by the Armstrong Dealer, can't recall the exact name but likely one of their products. In really cold weather I can see a slight gap between some of my VCT tiles but in 6 years none have peeled, cracked or...

    VCT Tile Question

I also get that feeling. Putting tile on a cement garage floor is not a difficult task so quite often its done by us amateurs. It appears that Armstrong Flooring has adopted the "not for garage floors" mantra to cover their asses. There seems to be a corporate concern that if we screw up the...
