That was the biggest that Dawn made. The swivel version in that size would be somewhat rare. The only other 8" ones I have seen on either Gumtree or ebay over here have all been the fixed engineers vices and in the last five years I have only seen probably three other 8" ones for sale. One of...
I agree. Great saw at a great price. I've never seen a guard like that either. Were they optional extras from the factory or some shop built gadget for a dado blade or something?
Here's another thread where a guy has bought an MBC - similar vintage to yours with the same "spatter paint " effect...
Yep, I agree too. Restore it at your leisure. You'll enjoy doing it and at the end of the day have something that really hasn't cost a lot and is handy even if used infrequently. I bought an old Duro Scrollsaw for exactly the same reason. A quick cleanup, a few new blades and I was good to go...

Here is the link to a DeWalt Rel. No. 25 that has been restored and just looks superb.

It is probably only a minor variant of your No. 23. The last photo in that OWWM shows the same original "spatter paint " effect.
The saw in this link...
6" Unknown Vice
First time poster but long time lurker of mostly this thread and the home workshop ( garage gallery ) threads.
I picked up this 6" metal vice recently pretty cheaply and was wondering if any of you knowledgeable guys would know what brand it could be ? Apart from the "No 6 " cast...
