The only right way to fix this is to chip out the old brick an replace it. You should be able to tooth out the old brick as long as the brick and mortar above is still sound. Worst case scenario you just cut a groove above the bad area and slide in some angle iron to temporarily support then...
Just a quick tip for anyone picking up one of these boxes. I remember someone posting having difficulty removing the protective film, Heat Gun Baby! Mine pealed off like butta with a little blast of heat magic. Serious bargain these boxes were.
Lenox makes some of the best blades, I cut a lot of angle iron and these seem to work best. Of coarse it helps to have a father-in-law who's a sales rep for Lenox. Free samples are always coming my way!
What cracks me up is why the HF haters even waste the time to read and post on an HF thread. Though I may agree with some of the comments if I felt that negative about something I wouldn't waste my time, unless of course lives were in danger!

Hold out for them to go on sale, they always do. Love my 46" Masterforce, much sturdier than my old craftsman boxes. Also recently picked up a set of Masterforce groove joint pliers on sale, very impressed with them. I like them better then my old Channel Locks.
