    Which welder?

Transformer machines are considered "bomb Proof" but all the newer ones are inundated with circuit boards and all the likings of the newer inverter machines. So.. with that said it seems like the new transformer machines trying to be high tech work horses. If Hobby work is what you will...

Clamp your work to death, then wait until it cools before removing clamps. Removing them too soon will still result in a curve, im guilty of removing clamps as soon as the weld is done....bam instant curve as it cools. Mark

Hobart are Rock Solid machines, a little basic (Taps not variable voltage), but reliable as ANY others. I just got a Thermal Arc 211i, If you can stretch the budget a little bit. Got mine from Cyberweld. It is super smooth in MIG and Stick, ( iIdont have TIG gun yet). Also can be used on...

Its bolted down, their are 3 holes in the floor of the wire spool area that are used to secure it to the optional "roll cage" that Thermal arc sells. Hope this helps. Mark

    Home for the new welder

Finally got the welder cart finished. I love this Thermal Arc 211i, way smoother than my old Hobart 140. The TA look Way too big for the cart in the background, so I guess it will go with the old welder. New cart is painted with water borne bed liner in a rattle can. It goes on pretty crappy...

    Another "which welder" thread

Congrats on your mm211!! I just got a TA 211i....gotta tell ya it welds super smooth, with plenty of heat ( at least MIG ). Fan is a bit loud, and it is by no means a realistic "portable" machine especially with a 33+ pounds spool o' wire in it. Best of luck with your new welders!! Mark
