    Insulation stops for 48" oc

Can’t really see if I’m right in your pictures. Looks like you used clipped head framing nails in your hurricane ties. I hope you aren’t getting inspected. they are pretty fussy about using proper fasteners.

Can’t get away from **** on the floor. My driveway is currently around 3” of ice. This is the shop floor tonight. I did sweep Saturday when it was dry.

Need a new Circular Saw, but what to get?

30 years in the framing business. My guys hate the fuel 7 1/4” saw. Tried one a couple years ago. They threw it around the house all day trying to kill it. Tough saw. Never broke. Underpowered when they were used to these Dewalts. Tool vender had to run the serial number at the end of the day...

Boiler runs a lot to heat the shop floor

Not too far away from you. I’m near Stony Mountain. Keep my shop floor at 16c as well. 2800 sq ft. It would take days to get it to 20c. I use a wood stove to get the heat up to around 25c daily. Melting snow and ice off daily, I would go broke. No services here, only hydro.

Customer wants a walk in door installed in his detached/attached garage-

10 years experience and you have no idea how to do this or price it? With that much experience you should be able to frame and hang the door in an hour. Maybe another hour to slide in some flashing and j trim to fix the siding. This job is not for you.

About building a garage that's 30' deep. should garage doors be 8' tall or 10' tall?

Not sure how your trucks don’t fit through an 8’ door. I park this inside daily. Clears by 1”. Cannot let snow build up on the apron though.

    Truss uplift?

Everybody who has responded has no idea how a truss works.

How level should foundation wall be?

30 years of so called framing experience here. Looks like you couldn’t build on a straight snap line. 1/4” out on that length you are laughing. No big deal. Bolt it down. Hide it in the face board. It’s called rough framing for a reason. My crew can make 1” disappear. You’re not building...

This one never blew down. Those are 20’ walls between the decks.

    well a storm went threw

Same storm came through my town. I frame for a living. Get your top plates doubled up ASAP. Run your braces from the outside with them attached to the top of the wall, not halfway up. Pound those stakes in at least 18”. You guys saying to use tapcons and anchors on the inside must have different...

How to get more home/sprinkler water flow?

You’re in Brandon, I think? Should be able able to get a well drilled for under $5000. Drop in a pump and f the city. Using their water you would be paying disposal rates too.

    Vapour Barrier question

Seal the edge of the bottom plate to the concrete with acoustical sealant. If you have kids, get them to help you. They love playing with it.
