    Jacobs Chuck History & Identification

I never noticed until just now that my 1951 Delta DP220 drill press has a Sheffield chuck.

Thanks. I'm no expert but I believe the logo on the stand was used from the 1960s into the early 1970s.

Craftsman Ball Bearings Americas Finest - decal on eBay

Heck, even if it does just last a year, at $4.73, that comes to around $.013 a day, that's chump change for a year's worth of enjoyment!

    Mining Equipment and Tools

I can't imagine working underground in a mine, I get claustrophobic spending just a few minutes in the crawl space under my house! My cousin works as a heavy equipment mechanic at a mine in Nevada. Most of the repairs are done above ground, but occasionally he has to go underground to repair...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I don't know if a cone wrench would qualify as a "specialty tool", but I think anyone who works on bikes might find this interesting. I recently picked up a set of standard (not metric) cone wrenches, which seem to be getting harder and harder to find. I posted on The Classic and Antique...

    Bell system

I picked this up at an estate sale of a man who worked for AT&T, it doesn't appear to have ever been used. His garage looked like a supply store for AT&T. I'm not sure how he was able to take the equipment and supplies home, as many were still in their original packages.

If anyone has any of these wrenches, and is willing to part with them, please contact me. I've attached a picture of what I'm looking for.

Garage door spring just exploded... 36 years old... what are good brands for a complete replacement? (Canada-land edition)

My garage door spring broke last year, the door used a large thick single spring. The repairman replaced it with two slightly thinner springs, he said that if one should break, having one that's still operational will make it easier to manually lift the door.

    Craftsman Toolbox Thread

It's not a toolbox but I thought this would be a good place to post it. I picked up this stand/base at a warehouse sale that was once a cabinet shop. The stand had a working Craftsman radial arm saw that I gave to my neighbor across the street because I didn't have any room for it in my garage...

Found a stash of tool catalogs.

I couldn't find a link to contact him with at the Internet Tool Catalog Library.

Found a stash of tool catalogs.

Here are the last of the catalogs. The South Bend is from 1956. The Rockwell parts catalogs are from the late 1970s-early 80s but also include older models. The equipment covered includes band saws, table saws, drill presses, horizontal band saws, grinders, radial saws, scroll saws, and wood...

Found a stash of tool catalogs.

You may be giving me more credit than I deserve, I haven't decided if I want to go through with the process of getting them scanned.

Thanks. I contacted four.cycle on how to go about getting these scanned to the archive. Here's more:

Found a stash of tool catalogs.

Thanks. The person running the sale is pretty much giving everything away, she only charged me $20 for the foot high stack of catalogs I pulled out. They raised the rent on the warehouse so the person leasing it is itching to get rid of stuff. Anything not sold soon is going into a roll off...
