How about a few exercises on weld symbols? Seems really easy, but in practice sometimes it's not.
If you have some shop drawings available, those would be good to share to see how things are identified in fabrication.
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) as well...?
I'm a self-taught...
I did a roof overbuild at my house (living room portion) and used 23/32" plywood for the roof deck, spanning 48" o.c. supported by trusses.
I've walked on it and it feels less bouncy than the regular 7/16 osb at 24" o.c.
You can achieve a very tight deflection criteria (for ceramic tile...
Does anyone build to that magical 19.2" or whatever that marking is on the tape measures have?
I have never personally used that or worked on a project with that spacing. Not advocating for that tho. Just asking.
For a shed, I wouldn't have an issue going to 24" o.c. TBH
Was that just one coat of the oil paint? Rustoleum says you need to let it cure 24 hours before adding a second coat, but in the warm summer months, I've done 2 coats in one day (1 coat morning and 1 coat evening.) I've never had bubbling problems.
I use a lot of oil Coverstain and that one you...
How old is that building?
Prior to plated trusses, this type of trusses was pretty common. I've seen the orientation of the plywood grain direction gussets 90 degrees to each other.
I'm not sure on the ones I've encountered if they were site-built or manufacturered off-site and shipped. You...
HoLee Molee Batman! That looks pretty bad.
What epoxy product did you use? Did you read on the instructions how long to let it cure? How thick did you apply it? Brush or roll it on? What are your temperatures?
Painting cedar with an oil/alkyd is not a problem generally.
Either moisture was...
Strength is which state? Tension, compression, bending, shear? Deflection?
I would think that's plenty strong. I would go with the slightly heavier wall thickness, mainly because it's easier welding thicker stuff (less chance of burn through.)
What are you painting, walls? Or something intricate? How many square feet is it?
I've done both airless and roll/brush, but i always buy extra paint for airless.
Are you backbrushing/backrolling? That is supposed to be good to get the first coat of paint or primer into the bare surface pores...
A light griding may be required if it was troweled really smooth, but probably not. Or light chipping to scarify the surface. That's what we specify for structural repairs. Probably not needed here. Bonding agent and call it good.
A few #3 vertical dowels with epoxy (maybe with a #3 continuous...
I didn't read the whole thread, but was that other one warrantied?
This was a different wrench, right?
I bought some extra long flex head ratcheting wrenches (non reversing) from Amazon last year, some mickey mouse brand. And they've actually held up better than I thought. I'm sure I'll be SOL...
For the base connection, you can do it two ways as used in commercial construction:
4 cast-in-place bolts with leveling nuts for plumbness adjustability. This is usually used on building main columns. The baseplates are recessed about 8" on a diamond leave-out. After erection, they grout the...
Festool killer? Nah, they'll still be plenty of Festool Kool-aide drinkers...LOL
I have the regular Domino and it's pretty sweet. Didn't use it as much as I thought, mainly because haven't done a lot woodworking on-and-off and I still do traditional mortise/tenon when the project calls for it...
