For those who have installed metal roofing on a gambrel/barn-style roof, any tips you can share on how best to install the horizontal gambrel trim?

Thanks much for the advice! So you didn't mess with cutting the folded over hem off one, and bending out the other that it fits into and compressing them together where they overlap, right? I imagine they recommend that in the video I linked to above mainly so it looks better and doesn't look...

For those who have installed metal roofing on a gambrel/barn-style roof, any tips you can share on how best to install the horizontal gambrel trim?

I'm installing exposed fastener metal roofing from Menard's on a large gambrel-roof shed for the first time. Have the lower panels installed and the lower rake trim installed. Now I have to do the horizontal gambrel trim piece, as shown in the image above, that goes between the upper and lower...

Any tips on inserting the foam closure strips behind the bottom of the panels on a metal roof? We have Menard's interlocking foam closure strips.

Thanks for the reply and tips. Yup, we do have drip edge installed at the eaves of the roof sheathing and underlayment on top of that. Then the closures on top of those and the metal panel.

Thanks for the help. So did you have good results by putting it on the sheathing and then placing the metal panel over it?

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I've been working on it and keeping the panels loose enough so you can peel them back seems to be key to getting it placed correctly and the adhesive back.

Any tips on inserting the foam closure strips behind the bottom of the panels on a metal roof? We have Menard's interlocking foam closure strips.

We are building a shed and installing a Menard's Pro Rib metal roof, and the interlocking foam closures that go at the bottom of the panels are a major pain to get in. We are trying to slip them underneath once the panel goes up, but then it's difficult to get them aligned and get the paper...

Do those of you who have roll-up doors on your garage or shed get a lot of mice or bugs inside?

I have a new shed I built and just installed a 6x7' roll-up door. I'm kind of worried about mice and bugs getting in there through the wavy gaps on the side and the larger gap on top (I did install it correctly). I guess I'm more worried about mice than bugs, since they can cause more damage to...

Best roof underlayment or ice and water shield for the price for a 6 month dry in? This will be for an unheated shed that will get a metal panel roof.

Yeah, maybe metal roofing won't take as long as I thought and I can do it by myself. Still depends on weather, but I'm more encouraged now to give it a try.

Thanks, yeah haven't heard of that brand here in the U.S., but I bet it's just sold under a different name.

Thanks for the reply. That's encouraging. I haven't done one before so was planning on a full weekend. It is a gambrel roof, so that will be 4 sections, but I am having the metal panels precut to length, so should only have to worry about trimming the width in spots.

I've checked with numerous roofing companies. Most don't do metal roofs, and none seem to want a job this small. They are trying to finish up hail-damaged house roofs in the area now before the snow flies.
