That old tool store down the road...

They do most of there business in actual hardware. Tool sales are nominal if that. The tool department may take up 1/20th of the whole store. Plus its popular with all the plants in town, one stop for everything, electrical, plumbing, etc...

    Most reliable snow blower?

We have a 1953 Simplicity that starts everytime we need it. 3 pulls and it purrs like a kitten. Not sure if Simplicity's are still built that way or not. But they were certainly good units 60 years ago.

Mistakes that Could have gone Really Wrong.

Not mechanical, but bad nonetheless. My 73 Scout, has a locking steering column, in my younger years I couldn't figure out how to replace the ignition switch so I bypassed it. There is a switch and push button the dash. So without turning the key you could start it. It also had a neat little...

    opinions on Estwing hammers

When I was about 10 years old I asked my dad (who has worked in hardware all his life) who made the best hammer, without hesitation he replied Estwing, when I turned 12 he bought me one, I still have it. Great hammer, great tool.

Took a look at the bolt, it wasn't rounded off or damaged in anyway. Grabbed his wrench (kobalt I think) went to...

Starter tool set for a teen recommendations (not craftsman)

I have the Crescent 144 piece tool set I leave in my Scout year round for Offroad repairs. I tore the entire front end out my Scout with that set and never broke a thing. They are shockingly decent tools. However I bought that set, cheap knowing it could be lost or destroyed in the woods or...

    Best Automotive Multi-tool?

Vise Grip used to make one, that I thought was real nice. But gotta agree with a lot of the other guys on here. Carefully thought out go bag, or tool roll would be far more useful. I have three old scouts, with these tools I can fix just about anything, on the side of the road. Ideal no, but...

Chevy 6.0 with a 5 speed. If you can find one, it will drive you to your grave reliable as a rock. I know guys that have 300,000 hard miles on them and they still keep going.
