Above 1200 Sq/FT Buick Sales and Service Garage 1936

Lamar, I've enjoyed your build thread over the last few days! Your dedication to creating your vision is truly inspiring, well done! And you have some seriously good design taste, most guys don't even think about things you put alot of thought into.

    Caulking kitchen tile backsplash question

Translucent caulk would be a great choice. Cut VERY SMALL tip off the tube of caulk, leaving slightly more than pinhole size... then assemble two wooden sanding blocks at an "L" and rub the caulking tip into that inside 90 degree corner to create a 90" angled tip on caulking tube. Get Sharpy...

Wilton Bullet Vise date stamping. show yours with or without EXP on slide

I acquired this vise yesterday... date stamp on keyway of 9-45, what do the numbers on the underside of the swivel represent?

Tell me about my vintage Wilton?

So what model is this vise? A 4" HD, or 4 1/2" HD? Also, any thoughts on what the number 13 represents? And what the 11 on the side of the casting represents?

Tell me about my vintage Wilton?

Yes, the jaws measure just under 4" wide, then on the underside of the swivel it says 13, a bed symbol lol, and then 4 1/2. Then the number 4 off to the right. On the underside of the key it says 9-45 (the manufacture date?), and then on the left side of vise says HD, then on bottom right it...

Tell me about my vintage Wilton?

Hi GJ, I've enjoyed reading about vintage Wilton vises here in the past, and today I scored one at an estate garage sale! $10... start the car, start the car!!! Here are some pics, can some of you Wilton aficionados let me know what I have? Is it a common version, or more rare? Estimate on value?

    V3 Bug/Suggestion Box

@Ryan Hi, I had posted last week that the compressed font was uncomfortable to read, but you must have either changed the font or found a different variation, because the main font for messages/posts is much improved now. Great work! I still find the font quite large on my 13" retina MBP, but...

    V3 Bug/Suggestion Box

Hi Ryan, graphic designer here. The font is uncomfortable to read because it is a condensed font (or a condensed variant of a normally-proportioned font.) Will we eventually have the option to choose another font for reading? Also the default size is geriatically large. If a more readable font...

Garage shelf design - am I missing something?

OP, that is almost exactly how I build garage shelves, except I cap off end of each shelf, and have cross members every 24" or so... If using 2x4's for horizontal shelf framing, and 2 or 3 #10 deck screws every place the back cleat intersects a stud... Oh my goodness, each shelf will probably...

How to install NewAge Pro cabinets at an offset

My wall is corrugated metal, and so I screwed 2x4 boards on the flat side, vertically on the recessed part of the metal, to bring my mounting face 1.5" out past the high point of the metal ribbing of the wall covering... then lag bolted cabinets to the wood strips... pretty much the same process...

    A touch of Gulf Livery

If that's a bathroom, you have to wash your hands while seated on the pot! The Gulf stuff looks good, very creative.

Old Hog Shed to Shop Conversion. Where to Start!

BH, looking at the photos of the rafters you had provided, should they have some sort of cross-brace where they meet at the peak? I'm not at all a framer, but I have often seen a triangle of plywood or similar that is heavily nailed to one or both sides of the rafters to provide extra strength...

    Wall covering questions

Having said all that, the one "faux finish" that I did on a wall once was used 1/4" painters tape to lay out mortar lines like you would see with cinder block (staggered rectangles)... then did a flood coat of drywall mud about 1/8" thick... once the mud had started to set, i pulled off the...

    Wall covering questions

IMHO any vinyl flooring product would look terrible on a wall... a garage/shop doubling as a mancave is fine (I'm somewhat doing the same), but you want to keep the look industrial. So wood planking would be ok, corrugated metal also... with a wall that size you're right, it will be somewhat...
