How do I find an electrician that is willing to pull a permit?

It might be a good idea to pull the permit yourself. We had some electrical work done on our house recently (upgraded panel, re-routed lines for washer/dryer and oven, plus all electrical for the kitchen) and I pulled all of the permits myself and to be honest, it wasn't that bad. You fill out...

Do you build rather than buy a workbench?

I did both: I bought a work table last year but found that I needed more working space and I wanted to have separate zones for different projects (cutting, assembly and finishing). So with a plan from here and some scrap wood, I was able to make my own. It's far from perfect but is...

how do you guys service your cars

Working on my rigs is easy as both are lifted Jeeps and I have plenty of room underneath to move around though down the road I might buy an adjustable creeper as I tend to strain my neck after a couple of hours.

    How did you learn?

I kind of "had to" learn as I got into Off-roading and the broken parts that come with the hobby. Granted, I'm no mechanic but I take auto courses at the local JC when I can, help my friends wrench on their rigs, read as much as I can about the systems, parts, and goings on of what ever I'm...

Re: What did you do to your garage today? To the garage, I bought another craftsman wall cabinet for more storage, and that'll be going up tomorrow. Also, found a spot to hang/store my tube doors for my jeep In the garage, I replaced an ARB line for my rear locker in the Jeep, which I now...

    Wall paint ideas. Chime in!

X2 on what has already been said. I'm going through the same process and going with the same colors (except for the orange) and it looks like you got a solid plan. for the paint, I used Kilz primer for all of the walls (2 gallons) as it primes really good and is an extremely bright white...

name ideas for a girls shop??

Very cool that you're going to open a shop, and i agree with keeping it gender neutral. Also, like it's been mentioned, what are you going to really focus your work on? As that could be a starting point for the name of the business and help your clientele find you easier when doing a google...

    How to store outdoor/sports gear

I have a wall in my garage for all of my sports stuff: verticle racks for my surf boards, mounted on the wall I have snowboards, skateboards, helmets, and other related gear. I try to keep stuff organized by sport so I don't have to waste time looking for specific stuff and it's up out of the way.
