    Cabin Mini Split Install Planning

For my 24K BTU Senville install, I used a plastic base (24" X 36" DiversiTech E-Lite) installed over tamped down crushed stone base. I also used these screwed directly to the plastic base with SS screws. They're inexpensive ($55) dampen vibration well, and raise the unit off the ground a bit...

Senville Mini Split Warranty with EPA 608 Universal Certification?

I have a EPA 608 Universal Cert. I used my cert number for warranty registration and they accepted it without question. I had a condenser unit main board failure last summer and support was excellent--no questions, no hassles. They sent a replacement board along with an evaporator unit board...

Navigating Minisplit Waters - Help, Please

That's not been my experience. I installed a Senville 24K unit in October 2023 and registered the unit to activate the warranty. They ask for the HVAC License #--I provided the EPA 608 Universal Certificate number and they approved the warranty registration. I had a condenser motherboard...

Excellent (and Free!) EPA 608 Universal Training and Certification

The EPA 608 certification allows you to work with and purchase refrigerant so there's no reason you wouldn't be able to purchase it. Most HVAC supply houses require a commercial account so that can be a PITA but there are plenty of online refrigerant sources. I've used Royal Refrigerants a...

    Minisplit leak

It's called formicary corrosion and it does appear to be much more common with the white line set insulation used by most mini split manufacturers. Have a look at this video for more info.

    Minisplit leak

This is a handy Nitrogen Pressure Calculator. Per the calculator, if you started with a nitrogen pressure of 519 PSI at 70 degrees, at 80 degrees the pressure should have increased to 529.08 PSI.

Installing Pioneer 12K in garage. Pulling my own permit but certified AC guy will install. Crazy price difference if they pull or I do. Suggestions?

While you don't really "need" them, I used the larger version of these for my 24K BTU unit and really like them. They raise the unit off the pad 6" or so and make for a very clean install.

5 Ton AC unit needs replacement

Daikin, Amana, and Goodman are all part of the Daikin group of companies so specs for the Goodman SD, Amana S, and Diakin FIT should be identical. Goodman is marketed as the budget/contractor end of the product line, Daikin in the middle and Amana marketed as an upper tier brand and units are...

Stiffed on hvac condensor fan motor What recourse is there?

This sounds an awful lot like buyers remorse. You authorize the work, get the invoice, start wondering how much the part costs and start googling only to realize you've been charged a crazy markup. It's probably happened to almost everyone on this site. BUT, you authorized the work. Your...

    Temporary a/c fix?

Yup. I've ordered from them twice. Both orders shipped quickly and arrived as promised. And looking back at my recent 410A order, the price was $275 before tax

    Temporary a/c fix?

Plus labor? If so, ouch. I recently paid $300 for a 25lb cylinder, shipping included. $65 a pound is a nearly 5.5X mark up.

Identify this unit at new house build?

    I believe it's a sewage grinder pump

Mini split communication wire in wall

My guess, and I'm certainly not qualified to do more than that, is that it probably needs the JP designation to be run inside a wall. I'm not sure how helpful the building inspectors in your area are but you may want to give them a call to confirm.

Mini split communication wire in wall

The key difference is that thermostat wire carries 24 VAC and is rated for in-wall use. The 4 conductor cable between the evaporator and condenser is carrying line voltage and is not rated for in-wall use. SJOW is essentially heavy duty extension cord cabling and isn't allowed in wall for the...
