Metal shop spray foam insulation coverings

I spent about $1600 on 1600 board ft I think? The local company wanted $15k.

Metal shop spray foam insulation coverings

With a little experience it's great. Expensive but worth it. Seals up and strengthens my versatube building better than anything else. The problem is that I had no experience and you can tell where I started and finished based on texture/coverage. The biggest Homer Simpson moment I had was when...

Metal shop spray foam insulation coverings

I did this on my 30x40 metal workshop. I bought kits of Tiger Foam with the fire retardant added. I believe this is ok to leave exposed, but could depend on local code. I sprayed some walls until I ran out of product. Doing it again I would go thicker on the ceiling and exclusively use foam...

replace garage door springs before they break?

Going through this now. My insulated 16x7 door is HEAVY. A spring broke and the door slammed closed just as my son was walking out. I weighed the door and it was 245 lbs. Could have killed him. My advice is to weigh your door first. Don't trust the previous owner to have installed the right...

    Metal-cutting chop saw - question

In a pinch I would definitely go with a thin cut-off wheel on an angle grinder over a table saw with metal blade. It's hard enough to get accurate cuts with a purpose built Evo saw. For just a few cuts, angle grinder works great.

    Metal-cutting chop saw - question

Search around YouTube. There was a guy that was doing something similar but showed that the torque output from motors designed for higher RPM just wasn't great. I think he ended up finding and swapping a motor to a miter saw that worked. I just bit the bullet and ordered an Evo 14" metal saw...

    Recommend a welder for me

Do some more research. This one specifically is legit. I have their cheaper one and it *****. I'd be willing to bet that most negative reviews you might find are vague, "can't trust China with safety" type opinions, not actual people experiencing failures.

    Recommend a welder for me

For the helmet I went with the harbor freight Vulcan top of the line hood. It's basically a viking copy but as far as I can tell has no compromises. I love it.

    Weld table set up

I'm guessing for guaranteed flatness. I just built a welding table with 3/8" thick 4'x8' and it had some shape to it. Probably need to go at least 1/2" or more to avoid that, or find a way to make it lay flat...

    Recommend a welder for me

If you can afford it, get a slightly bigger unit like the Miller 215 or Lincoln equivalent. You’ll probably be future proof, and if welding just isn’t your thing you can recoup most of the cost. When I factored in rebates, the nicer unit was only a few hundred more...

    Recommend a welder for me

I had the same decision to make a year ago. I was considering the HF Vulcan 220, Titanium’s, Hobart, Lincoln and Miller. By the time I compared out the door prices, I plunked down a few hundred more for the Miller 215. It has the best warranty and can run multiple processes. Buy for life...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Just picked up an 8” bench grinder I’ve had my eye on for awhile. It was on clearance for $45 so the extra 20% off made it a no brainer.
