    Avet SX reels: $150

Not sure how many saltwater fishermen we have on this site, but this is a great deal for a well-made reel, mostly used for drift fishing (like for flounder or black sea bass, etc.). Not our usual fare here on GJ, but figured it's worth a quick post. Should show as $150 on sale...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

Walking the hood this past weekend I found a Milwaukee impact with battery and star drive bit in the middle of the road. Well-used, but working fine. I don't have Milwaukee stuff...walked another 50 feet or so with it in hand and low and behold to my left was a neighbor (that I don't know)...

    Scrap pile rescues

I like to peek in the metals bin at our local transfer station, but unfortunately they are very strict about snagging anything for take-home. I suspect the workers there cherry pick all day every day, for things they can use or resell themselves. I don't blame them. I have grabbed a couple of...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

New trailer hub, inner bearing grenaded on the old one and the hub was in rough shape anyway. Paid $96 for a complete hub, assembled and greased. Re-packed the other side as it looked to be in better shape. This is on my boat trailer which only gets used a couple times and a few miles per...

I need a plumber! How do you fix this?

I'm no plumber, but I do watch a lot of plumbing videos on YouTube ...when in doubt, cut it out (and cut it back), and go back with PVC. Can you access that run from another area and replace "more of it" so it's not so tight to work on in that spot?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finally got this water pump assembly installed on the outboard lower leg, it's been in the vise (in the way) for over a month! Stored in the shed till we get the boat uncovered in a month or so. Fingers crossed she's all sealed up now with the gearcase upper bearings, shims and seals all new...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

New drive shaft bearing housing sealed and installed on the outboard gearcase. Drained and pressure-tested the gearcase, seems OK but I don't fully trust my crappy pressure testing pump. I think I'm going to roll with it. It passed the "soapy water" test to my liking. Water pump next.

    What is this "vise"?

Clean and apply boiled linseed oil. As far as the broken piece, it may be difficult to weld or braise that repair, and maybe risky. As you stated it's not going to be used...I might try an easier "fix" like a thin application of JB Weld to bond the pieces together for looks only. Great piece...

    What is this "vise"?

I've not seen one like it yet. Looks like some sort of multi-functional vise apparatus. Someone here will know. It's cool.
