New to me

I received my first ever Snap-On Torque wrench so I am not familiar with this style at all. It is a qtr-2100d model 15-100 ft lbs. When I dial the wrench to a certain setting them bring it back down to 15 ft lbs for storage there is a thick brown grease left on the shaft covering the setting...
