Question for all the MTBers on here

WHen you say sweat pants, it makes me think of cotton sweat pants, and surely you don't ride in cotton. Do you mean nylon/synthetic running pants?

Question for all the MTBers on here

I agree w/ 9G9. Not about riding a racked out ridgid, but in regards to apparel. ;) In the last few years, I have taken off my egg beater pedals in favor of flats in the winter, wear a mtn bike shoe that is 1/2 size larger and wear Smart Wool socks (light to medium, but not heavy weight-too...

Is it just me or has this "ultimate shop" thing gone too far?

Astro info, scroll by if not interested, please. :3gears: Some gear crosses over, unfortunately most does not. Astro front axle is 66" while S10 is 60" (Who'da thought?) I had to notch my crossmember so the front drive shaft would clear after swapping from the Astro awd NP136 tcase to an S10...

Is it just me or has this "ultimate shop" thing gone too far?

Just once, I'd like to see a pic of an immaculate shop with all the cabinet doors open so I can see what things they have stashed away that are similar to the things I have out in the open cluttering up my space. Things I just can't seem to reorganize for. Ever look at those closet organizer...

    Other websites?

I am involved in lot's of re-organizing and purging right now, so I often type in "tool wall", "sheds", "garage organization", etc, into google images and while there is a lot out there, there still somehow manages to be not a lot out there. I still think my organization is better for me than...

Re: Boats  I've been a sea kayaker (and white water) for over 20 years, so I'm pretty familiar with being "both the Captain and the Crew", and that's the beauty of it; it's my boat and it goes where I make it go

I used to always agree with this sentiment...but in the end, the beauty of your garage is that it is your garage, and how it is set up is your perogative. Whatever makes your garage experience enjoyable for you, whatever floats your boat.

Need suggestions for converting Barn to shop?

Couldn't you Tyvek the inside of the exterior walls first (tightly following the contour around the studs, too) , then insulate? Do the doors fit tightly enough to keep critters out? Can you take a grinder to the floor cracks so the slabs meet evenly (feather them in), then crack fill? I...

Is it just me or has this "ultimate shop" thing gone too far?

Interesting thread with a lot of good perspectives. Here's another one: one night after working in my brother in law's 35 x 35 shop I realized I had never seen him actually park one of his own cars inside his garage. He is a career mechanic and does a lot of side jobs and is always...
