Pistol grip pliers for thoughts. Yes or no?

My take on pistol grip pliers is they are a tool I didn't know I needed until I had them. In particular, I find the long reach versions to be invaluable in certain situations. The ability to look down the length of the pliers at the thing being grabbed without your hand being in the way makes...

What would you pay? Monarch 225...

It's definitely worth far more than $100.00. I live in a "vise rich" area, and 6 inch vises generally go for $300-$500 depending on maker and condition. That's flea market pricing. Online pricing is higher. Also, the nonsense that "most people don't want a vise that big" is a load of ****. The...

What Tool Is The Bane of your existence? I'll go 1st

Caulking guns. I swear every one of them ***** or every tube of caulk I've ever bought has been infected with syphilis.

    Opinions on this benchtop planer?

As a point of reference, this machine is not a jointer. It's a thickness planer.

I have a Wolfbox MF50 air duster. Works great. Might be what you're looking for.

    Any value in WWII tools?

The scribes still have utility today, but the "Wizard" wrench is the real jewel of that bunch

The dirty tool secret they don't want you to know.

Old Geezer here as well. I was particularly amused when it pronounced the company as "Black Plus Decker" rather than "Black And Decker."

The dirty tool secret they don't want you to know.

Not always. It has been posted numerous times that Lowes has honored the warranty in-store.

Confess: What Tool Did You Not Really Need But Bought Anyhow? (Silly Stuff Included)

A massive posi-lock gear puller. Don't know why I bought it and have never used it. But I think I justified it at the time by telling myself it would cost about 4 x as much new.

Ever get stuck with tools you thought you’d need but don’t really need and not worth reselling and maybe you’ll need them someday

I consider tools like that to be insurance. Years ago, I helped a friend change the alternator on an old Honda. Come to find the one tool I didn't have was a belt tensioner tool. We got it done without it, but it would have made things much easier, especially as we were working in a cold...

Wilton Bullet Vise Repair. Can this be fixed?

Unfortunately you are not correct. The piece in question is a fixture that holds the main nut in place. Without it being fixed, the nut and leadscrew will simply spin within the vise body, not allowing the jaws to open or close. There is a separate dust cap that keeps debris out.

    Got My New Bench Vise

That is a great vise at a fantastic price. Better than almost anything made today. It's always nice to see somebody who doesn't just jump at, and overpay for, the newest thing just because it's shiny and clean.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I have seen a few of those over the year. I always assumed (for no good reason) that someone filed or ground the lettering off. But it's also possible they were factory rejects that were sold at discounts, but that Reed didn't want their name associated with. Another possibility is they were...

I am utterly shocked w/ milwaukee's incompetence. Trying to see if a tool is counterfeit

My only suggestion is to purchase these types of tools from legitimate sources. There are many internet sources and videos that detail the extreme difficulty differentiating real from counterfeit tools and batteries. The fakers are very good at what they do.

Who's the go-to for impact bits these days?

In truth you can't really go wrong with any of the big boy brands. This time of year, they all have deals on large quantity bit sets. As a plus, you can end up with a bunch of hard cases for essentially no cost.
