If I was building new my preference would be 2 single doors. Look close at the top of any double door in an older garage and you will see the sag in the header. that may may not be a problem with newer manufactured laminate beams or as an earlier poster mentioned door on gable end.
Here in Miami Ok all that is required is a sketch for simple single story. @ story will require an enginers stamp on the plans. also need drawing of the lot and existing structures. you are only allowed 30% of lot in structures.
BTW contractor swung the feed to the west at my request since I am planning on building a shop and and strait line shot was in the way. Great bunch of guys, both the contractors and the city!!!
I just replaced my meter socket. We have underground utilities. City supplies electric. they have just replaced the transformer and feed to the house. old socket looked tired LOL. pulled permit and replaced it costing 135 or so. house was built in early seventies. Good move or a waste?
are you sure you can put a slab over the your entrance feed. I am going to have to move mine for the shop I want to build. now our POCO is the city and everthing is underground in our neighborhood.

Yes. they sell them for the Salamander type portable heaters. I would check to make sure they rated for enough amps of your cube heater. in a salamander they just run the fan and ignition ckts.
We have a portable 5 KW from sears. It was purchased in 2007 do to ice storm. no power for 11 day in an all electric house.
I installed a plug and socket to the fireplace blower for heat. at least we had heat, some lights, fridge and freezer.
Beats the hell out of candle and batt radio. LOL
