Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

I went with the Whalen industrial racks from Costco, the 44" tool chest from Harbor Freight, and the Flow Wall 48-square-foot slat kit. I'm washing and painting this week, then we'll be in business. The last thing I'll need is a workbench. I'll post photos when this whole thing is done.

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

Speaking of stuff from Costco, has anyone tried this workbench: http://whalenstorage.com/category/Garage-Industrial/group/Work%20Benches/3%20Door%20Industrial%20Work%20Bench It looks sturdy as hell, but I'm thinking the integrated back might be a little limiting when rolling it out for use away...

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

Nice setup! I especially like the backsplash/power strip combination. I definitely want to incorporate a strip into whatever workbench solution I put together. I'd probably mount it to the bench itself, as it will be on casters, but will help minimize cable mayhem.

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

I saw some Whalen shelving at Costco. Seems pretty sturdy for ~$160. Anyone have these? http://whalenstorage.com/category/Garage-Industrial/group/Racks/Grey%20Industrial%20Rack

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

Thanks! Yeah, right now my biggest need is organization, not new tools. I'm not throwing out my tools, just getting the garage down to zero and putting new workspace in it to fill with my existing tools. I don't have a brand preference and am willing to mix and match. I've definitely already...

Also, how do you guys control spiders? I plan to do a thorough wash prior to installing anything and suspect I'll need to vacuum every few weeks as needed.

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

Thanks for the advice, dudes. I think I likely will build my own bench. Anyone have any favorite builds or plans I could follow? What kind of cabinetry/shelving/toolboxes are favorites around here?

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

What I have is a bunch of tools (not a huge kit or anything, but a pretty varied base of auto/garden/home/woodworking), sporting goods, and misc. household items in a naked garage. What I need is someplace to put everything and someplace to work. This won't be a dedicated workspace. I'll need...

Blank slate: What to buy, what to build

I'm just about done stripping our garage and now it's time for me to really put thought into how I'm going to organize everything. The garage is 23'x23'x10' with a 4"x17" concrete foundational lip on opposing sides. I need shelving, cabinetry, workbench, toolbox, and slats/pegboard. I've seen...

    Fresh start in CT

My garage came with 40-year-old rickety, ugly, wooden built-ins all the way around. I'm just finishing pulling everything off the wall and ready to start over with a cleaner, more practical storage and workspace solution. Rather than create a new thread in the general discussion forum (which I...
