The 3.0 and the 3.8 have a serious problem with timing cover gaskets (among other things) leaking coolant. Usually the owner dosen't realize that the coolant level is low untill they "cook" the motor, at which point (from my experience) having a blown head gasket is not at all uncommon. I just...
The Redbacks are good boots. I've had three pairs of them over the years. Two pairs of the slipon (like pictured) and my latest with laces. After a few years the stiching would come out were the leather meets the elastic sides, but that was after a LOT of use. I did however get some flack...
I have the Snapon version of the Airlift, and I don't know how I got by without it for soo long... But seriously it saves me a ton of time! It will **** any size cooling system down, even big trucks and rear heater vans/suv's. I just mix my desired coolant with water in a bucket and...
It's good you want to learn, I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be afraid to ask questions or take the truck to a pro. I'd like you to save some money, sometimes people trip over dollers trying to pick up dimes... And by the way if you have the truck you already have a belt tensioner...
First off, I'm not trying to tell you what to do. But if you really need to ask that question you should probably stick to maintnence items first before you start trying to do things like remove broken spark plugs on a 3v 5.4... You could have every tool in the world but it's experience and...
I didn't see that article, but I did read this in the Wall Street Journal yesterday. Makes me wish that I would have spent all the money I did in the past year or two on their stock instead of their product...:lol_hitti...
I have a few craftsman extentions that I use for just this purpose. I have never warrantied any of them but I can't say that I would feel all that bad about doing so... My point is that I didn't buy them because they were the best tool I could afford, I bought them because they were cheap, had...
Am I the only one here who has had bad experiences with Cardone reman parts (not just cv axles). I'm not all that impressed with what they call reman, many parts I've gotten from them have not worked correctly right out of the box (wiper moters, window regulators, power steering pumps ect...)...
I believe that the hole is there because they drilled all the way through for the paul detent spring hole and then they plugged the hole in order to keep debris out of the ratchet mechanism. I have a 1951 s/o speeder rachet that has the same plugged hole, and after taking it apart to clean and...
You do NOT have to pull the engine to do plugs on those cars, you can take the torque mounts loose that attach to the upper radiator support and pull the engine forward for more room, but most times even this is not necessary. Any good tech should be able to do this job in an hour or less.
Take the car to a good local independet shop, and see what they tell you. These kind of shops stay in business because of their reputation, and should treat you better than a chain shop. Ask people you know what shop they use, referrals are your best bet!
