    Taiwan’s Tool Industry

Gotta love foreign articles translated into English! Always a few things a bit off? Here they mention the types of tools made. "and are categorized as electric, manual or steam". Steam has to mean pneumatic or air tools but I sure would like to operate at least one steam powered tool in my...

You can also send them out for re sharpening? I don't think this place uses acid but I don't really know. I have contacted them about price and how to ship my files but have not yet sent any off? Looks like a real old time place too! Boggs Tool & File Sharpening Company Here is their...

    White tool boxes/cabinets/benches

Surprisingly my white HF box has stayed cleaner than I thought it would? Always had red or black boxes before mainly because that's about all they use to make! . . .

Attached garage builders and rough costs in the Mid Atlantic area?

Where you live is a big problem. Before I did anything I would make sure what you want to do is allowed? You have permit costs included but your in a very regulated part of the country and I would NOT assume anything until you get your approval in writing! Your HOA is just the beginning. . . .

    Tig welder regulator

I always close the tank valves and release all pressure from the lines using the torch. That's the only proper way to do it. I would NEVER leave any pressure on any regulator, flow valve or anything else. It's just one of those good work practices to get into. Kinda like turning the compressor...

Do gas cans always vent off fumes

Be sure and add a vent to these ridiculous crappy EPA gas cans! Utter stupidity when trying to pour fuel and it gets vacuum locked. . . .

    Mat vs creeper

I just got the $25 Harbor Freight work mat as posted above. I have used cardboard, creepers and various bits of other mats and carpets. This mat from HF really works well. It has some things that the other mats don't think about. The bottom is slick and shiny so it does not soak up fluids like...

    Cleaning up Garage Sale finds?

One trick which is pretty handy is when using an Ultrasonic cleaner? Put the part and whatever expensive cleaner you want to use - say Evaporust inside a sealed plastic bag. Now fill the rest of the Ultrasonic cleaner with water. The water will act as a coupling agent to whatever is inside the...

Where to buy a whole bunch of jumper wire, testing leads, alligator clips etc.?

I have a large Westward test lead kit but for long leads I use this style. Now they come in different lengths and from my experience get the 30' set! This set is about $22 on Amazon or EBay. The long leads are a mess to store otherwise. . . .

Metal socket rails - is there a trick to these?

Another vote for Ernst socket rails. Did not know what good socket organization was until I went 100% with my sockets. Had a few doubles and was missing a few. Now It's all where I need it and can see it! . . .
