Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't use less foam to create a lower level and then repeat the process for a second level in deep drawers. And of course you can pack as many tools as possible in the space you have. Not many reasons why you couldn't do this for your existing personal drawer...

Neat idea for sure. For those that didn't read the comments one person suggested a small lump of clay on the handle of each tool to make a finger divot for easier tool removal. Another person suggested black t-shirts so that it won't show dirt over time.

I vote miter as well. A high quality compound sliding miter and a table saw are all you really need.

Which Makita did you end up with? I spent over a year borrowing saws from friends before I could make a decision but I ended up with the Makita LS1016L compound slider. It has been one of the best tool purchases I have ever made.

If you can believe it I'm attempting to corral everything into a 3'x8'x8' space. The idea is to have an enclosed cabinet that will unfold into the space when I am working but will pack everything away neatly when the task is complete.
