Oh that’s the exterior paper. Seems like it got paint or something on it. So keep the rails as is and just work around it?

I am mid stream in a garage remodel. I have a garage door on rails but it seems the previous owners put a piece of lumbar over the drywall to mount the rails. I’m trying to make the garage into a small office / car shop (so I can do oil changes, brakes, suspension, etc) in a nicely finished...
