I may go look at it just to see what it is all about. I emailed him for more info and am waiting on a response.
Still going to buy a new one just think that may be a cool project is all.
With all the shop work we have been doing i havent been able to make a final decision yet.
On a side note i found a 325 and 230 pump from quincy for 250 bucks that "valve work" wish they were closer to look at.
I see what you are saying, i looked again, i was thinking the 705 5hp was less than a grand difference than the 707 7.5hp. and i was mistaken hah.
Was weight really that much of a factor in your purchase or was it more about the lower rpm of the champion?
That is interesting, are you a dealer or just a curious mind like me? I wonder why so much higher.... The 7.5 hp with the 707 pump isnt 1000 more than the 5hp with the 705 pump. Just because of it being a low seller?
Well with my interest in low rpm air i looked further into saylor beall and on their sell sheets in the documents section they list an 80 or 120 gallon horizontal or a 120 gallon vertical with the 707 v twin pump and a 5hp motor running at between 455 and 510 rpms..... HMmmmmmm
Well with all the input i think i have narrowed it down to either going local with a napa 5hp industrial model or spending the extra 350 on the 5hp saylor beall. The only reason i have ruled out the polar air 5hp is the lack of a magnetic starter and would be within 100 dollars of the napa...
The more i look at cost vs machine maybe i should get a conservative sized polar air and look at my usage in the new shop over the next few years and go from there. They seem to get really good reviews. Those SB and Champions just really are good looking machines.
Was just scanning and found these..... What do you think (feel free to show me different choices)

Thank you guys for the quick responses and all the info! So it would appear that if i wanted a knock off pump i would be money ahead going with polar air vs the napa compressor. (i figured the napa wasnt some great hidden secret of a compressor but just wasnt totally sure) If i want to get...
