How much land do you need to not have "visible" neighbors?

The only way for you to know what is acceptable to you is to measure out from a house you deem typical and see how far that is. Where I lived in Washington 5 acres was more than enough because it was all timber. Where I live in Idaho I can easily see houses over a mile a way.

    Recommend an air compressor ?

It just depends. I bought my 60 gal "Rocket" rebuilt in '85. I have since moved 3 times and it is still going though I have replaced the caps in it once. It is used for impact tools, tires, DA sander (can't keep up with that one), grease gun, etc. I use a smaller HF one when I need nailers and...

    Septic issue

This has been my experience as well. Over the last 30 years I have lived in houses with simple septic systems (no pumps, floats or other electric devices). I have also gotten to know a couple of pumper truck owners. Lived in the previous house for 20 years. Once I had the inadequate drainfield...

    Duker’s Barndominium

It it is not too late you may want to run a multi conductor cable in the trench with the water line so you can have automatic valves for the beds. We laid cable in all of the trenches when we laid the pipe. Controller is in the barn. Now she can adjust watering times for each box and there is...

Neighbors dont like my barn project - threaten zoning appeal

Keep in mind that the Township is not responsible for ensuring the structure and its use are in compliance with any neighborhood CC&Rs. The Building permit only requires it to meet jurisdictional code/ordinances. IF the OP has verified that he is not in violation of any recorded CC&Rs then...

Which implement the most useful for hobby farm and polebarn build?

I bought a very old farm house on two acres. ( I bought another ½ acre later) I also bought a John Deere 1025R tractor with loader and backhoe. I have used the 1025 all the backfill work for the addition, dug out several tree stumps, tilled the new garden, graded for the new loan, planted...

    Propane Tank Size/Usage?

I own a 500 for the shop and a 1000 for the house. Both will get me through the year. Because I own the tanks I can shop propane from each of the dealers and but from the cheapest. They do not charge the same price for a rented/leased tank as they do for an owner tank.

    Paper towel holders

I used the HF magnetic for quite a while but now use a Sofpull dispensor that uses those giant rolls that you pull down from the center. Got it off Amazon for $15 with 2 rolls of towels. Really like it because it is easy to use with one hand. Wife liked it so much she bought another and had me...

Old Barn to Become my Shop

I should probably update this as we have been in it nearly 4 years now. Here is a view of the house from the NE before we started on the addition. You can barely see there is a house in there. Tore out all the overgrowth to excavate for the addition. Getting it framed in. And...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Easiest way to clean blinds well is to spray them with Scrubbing Bubbles and let it soak for a couple of minutes THEN spray them off with the garden hose.
