Found this little gem of a vice at a local antiques store for a reasonable price. I've seen it listed as a early bench vice / jewelers vice. Enjoy!!!

Yes I do understand your explanation and what your saying. Just was looking to see if the part was available before modifying my bench. Can't blame a fellow for trying?!? Nice vise display!
