    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

You're absolutely right. But there was a degree of sentimental value ******* with this BB. It had my late FIL's name and employee number engraved in it from when he was in the trades some 40+ years ago. He was a good man and I like having this around.

    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

UPDATE!! I received the repair kit 3 July (a full 4 days ahead of the indicated delivery date) but just got around to repairing my breaker bar this morning. The kit appeared to be everything one would expect. New 1/2 drive piece, new pin, new spring and detent ball. However, the new pin was...

    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

Thanks again to everyone. And yes, mine is just like the one in the pics above. I called the Sears number and they had the exact same part# as the Ebay link for about the same price except they were going to charge for shipping so Ebay it was. I realize it probably made better sense to get a...

    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

Thanks everyone for the input. I saw generic repair kits on Ebay, but just was little leary. Yeah, I'm trying to not get wrapped up in the sentimentality of it all, but I guess it's my driving factory. My FIL was meticulous about engraving his name and employee number on everything in his...

    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

Finance guy, thank you, I've already chatted with their robot. Got a phone number and email address to try. CJM8515, so Lowe's will exchange Craftsman tools? This is second best option for (silly) sentimental reasons but vs. just letting it rust away I'd go that route.

    Lowe's and Craftsman...breaker bar repair

Greeting all. Life has thrown me some serious curves the last few months (elderly mother) so I haven't been here in a while. Things are about back to a new normal so I find myself out in the garage again. Couple questions.... Where would one go to get a genuine Craftsman 1/2 breaker bar...

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

Okay I'll play. Not exactly a tool "chest" or a "cabinet" but it's Craftsman, red and gray. As a kid in high school my father strongly encouraged me to get my own tools...since I seemed to have trouble putting his back where I found them. So as I could afford them or he upgraded and passed...

    Question about a Yost vise

Some manufacturers did not use jaw inserts. I have never read an explanation as to why but I usually associate that as being an older vise. Nice find. That's interesting, because the Yost rep sent me a couple pages out of an old catalog and most every one listed except the 42, 44 and a couple...

    Question about a Yost vise

Roberts210, It may droop a little but I think its more of an optical illusion. I've included another pic with the jaws closed. Yeah it's seen some use and abuse but overall I think it's in pretty good shape. I kind of came by this piece the hard way. We lost my Dad a few years ago...

    Question about a Yost vise

Well I'll be....I never would have thunk it. But now my next dumb question...what's the benefit of having that one jaw swivel? Securing odd shapes in the jaws? That's all that comes to my mind. Ok second maybe not so dumb question. It struck me odd that the jaws didn't have replaceable...

    Question about a Yost vise

Greetings all, first time poster here. I've recently gotten bit by the vintage tool bug. Mostly hammers, axes, and a couple timber processing related tools. Only a hand full of items so far but I'm picking up steam. I have a questions about an old vise I acquired...a Yost 42. I actually...
