1/3 HP craftsman capacitor start motor. Adding a Reverse Switch

I have re-read this and i think this is your diagram for the motors Drum Switch Wire image you were showing me. If that is correct i would need to see the actual switch and the pin-out of the switch but thank you for posting it.

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

Ok its done, it works, I'm done. It spins up nice, reverse works too. The capacitor cover bows out a bit but there are no pinched wires. The DPDT switch is larger that the SPST so ill be adding a ¼ spacer under the base. I have to admit I was nervous turning it on. I spent so much time on this...

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

I posted the question in an electric motor forum (another site) a member said my diagram is valid. Yippee! So I went ahead and put it together. Now in full disclosure I headed the warning from member FrankLee and installed the center band after the end castings were inplace. He was right too...

1/3 HP craftsman capacitor start motor. Adding a Reverse Switch

Model 115.6961 Have i done this correctly? This is the original setup. (Pic1] I want to add this DpDt sw to control the direction of the start windings polarity. The motor has the ability to do this manually, i just want to do this without having to remove the access cover so I'd like to...

Cool! Good to know their purpose. Thank you for this and the compliments. I'm currently trying to verify that using a DPDT switch to reverse the motor polarity is correctly done. Its on #62 of this thread.

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

some assembly photos and comments A member was kind enough to provide instructions on the order in which to re-assemble the motor. The electrical components (overload, terminal bar, centrifugal switch) are attached to the casting then the stator is placed onto the said casting. For mine it is a...

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

I did not realize the castings rest on the lip of the stator. Cleared up a bunch of confusion about putting it back together. Since I've added 2 additional wires for the reverse switch 'm just test fitting. It took a few tries but there are no pinched wires. All looks good. Tomorrow ill try to...

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

Hello. If you have time could you look at post #62. Let me know if the reverse switch connections are valid. The rest of it I've done before. In rewiring I added just an inch or two additional length to some of the connections so it will be possible to attach all the components on the electrical...

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

I just wanted to publish the wiring diagram for the sander. Im removing the on off switch and replacing it with a DPDT direction switch. And i will be implementing a magnetic contactor relay. It will be configured to latch triggered by start and stop buttons each with their own indicator. Here...

    1948 Craftsman Belt Sander (103.0803) & Motor (115.6961) Restoration

I did as well. But having one made was not in the budget. A friend gave me the idea to varnish the paper. I used a spray adhesive to affix the tag on the original plate. I had also fabed a plexiglass cover but after I finished burnishing the edges of the paper version I felt it was fine as is...
