    An interesting Sears article today.

"European-quality wrenches at bargain prices. " ha ha ha ha ha! Sure, buddy. Seriously, why buy Craftsman instead of Kobalt?

    Shop vac hose question

a 1.25" hose will definitely reduce suction. I'd use an adapter at the end.

    Any difference in vise grips?

Of course there's a difference, but for a tool you use once every 2 years, Harbor Freight will suffice.

    U.S.A. made vs German made

I buy brands I like, not Coutries of Origin. So I like Wera, Wiha, PB Swiss, Knipex, and also KTC, Nepros & Koken. That said, expect Euro tools (and US ones, too) to suddenly get more expensive. I'll get an oddball US tool if I need it and its available, like Proto, SK, etc. US made is not a...

Wrench sets besides combination to add to the box

I don't wrench enough to need anything other than combination wrenches. T handles woudl be my next go-to. My opinion is if you haven't hit a use case for a new tool then you don't need it yet. When a regular size wrench doesn't work for you, go get some stubbies. Doing tubing? Tubing...

Sister's furnace acting up, not blowing hot after 15 min...it's too large for her home?

that makes no sense. if it were too large it would heat up the house super quick then turn off. Maybe the furnace is too large for the fan, which could cause all sorts of problems.

Can I run heat strips only, permanently?

Of course. Heat strips tend to be expensive to run, but I have an old house in idaho Falls, ID that was all heat strip baseboards besue the town an on cheap hydro. My current HVAC is heat strip via central air, but I live in South Louisiana, so heating isn't usually an issue (not this week...

    Disappointing Proto Warranty Experience

lo, seems fairly obvious why they're out of repair kits. "Lifetime warranty on our schedule"

Just for fun, if you are of a certain age- do you still have any of your first tools?

I still have the Craftsman set & box my dad gave me for Christmas when I was 17 (61 now) but have upgraded most. The 3/8 socket set was replaced by Wera. Wrenches by KTC. Screwdrivers by Wera & Vessel. The Craftsman needle noses, slip joints, and dikes are all still in very fine shape & in...

    Kobalt Compressor help. (Repaired)

I think the likely cause is a bad overload on the motor. If you were drawing too many amps this would pop your house breaker. Try running it at low pressure, the low will be much lower, see how it draws if you have a clamp-on you can use. You could just have a hard-to-turn motor or compressor...

Does this bolt need a washer? Or is that built-in ?

Crush washers are for maintaining a liquid seal, not for holding the fastener.

    Starter Toolboxes

That seems like a lot to me. For a young man (or woman) living in an apartment, I think a tool set should fit in an 18" toolbox, plus maybe a drill and socket set. You'll have a lifetime to buy them tools if they start to use them a lot.

    Air drying

put a separator at the outlet and that's basically an industrial dryer on the cheap.
