turns out Menard's lost my trusses. This works out in my favor. I spoke with the truss engineer and he designed a scissor truss for me to use in the area where I want that will give me a 12' clearance for 6 feet in both directions from the interior peak. the rust of the trusses I will leave...
easy. fiberglass insulation is much less dense than OSB or drywall. If she opens her door too far, the ends of the door can go between the stud bays rather than against some sort of wall sheathing. the insulation will compress and even possibly soften the impact.
I think it's hilarious that...
yeah I shot the truss manufacturer an email asking if they'd be willing to draw something up with the modifications or design some trusses that could replace the ones I have.
unfortunately the garage package was ordered before I decided I wanted to go this route. The trusses are awaiting delivery.
I've seen threads about modifying trusses, just hadn't run across anything that fit my scenario enough that I was confident about utilizing the system. I'll do some...
cool thread, but a but different than my scenario. I will read more through it though when I have time.
I'm trying to avoid having to run 28' long beams to support the ridge by bolting together 2-3 of the W trusses instead. I'm thinking if I do that and run an LVL ridge that's both attached...
I originally planned 28 foot W trusses, 24" OC from end to end on my project. But being restricted to a 14 foot peak height in my neighborhood, I was limited to 10 foot ceiling. (I actually talked them into letting me slide by with 14'6" so I didn't have to go below 4/12 pitch)
I have every...
Must be you've got a good system to prevent things such as grinding dust, body filler dust, paint overspray, etc from migrating from it's source? I'm not buying a full dust suppression/collection system just to save 4" of floor space :D
The entire garage will be insulated, including the...
considered that too, but I get a ton of stuff going in and out on my project list... the wall does a few things for me.
Reduces the space I have to heat/cool.
Keeps dust and dirt from infiltrating one way or the other
keeps all the junk from doing the same
Gives a place to hang more shelving...
yeah with it being 28 feet deem, I'm putting in shelves and such in the back 6-8 feet for storage of all the **** that was in the shop side before. Seasonal stuff, bikes, lawncare things, decorations, etc. I might even try to sneak the compressor over there and hang a furnace from the ceiling...
