Wow, glad I finally stumbled across this thread. I'm in the middle of designing a barn and want to do 36 x 60 Gambrel (preferably a 40x60). My vote is for the 12/6 - 6/12 for aesthetics. I too spoke to Dano at barnplans.com and he was great to talk to. My main concern with their plans...
