Listen to lh4x4...too high will shorten the life of the compressor. Most air tools are rated at 95psi. I have my cut in at 105, cutout at 125, and a regulator (and filter + water trap) in the shop set at 95psi with air flowing. Has worked great for many years now.

Stargeezer, don't trust the 14 ga section to run what the longer 12ga will. The smaller wire is rated at 15A, and when you run the 20, it will get warm. For intermittent duty, you may not notice it soon, but over time it will degrade. All (ALL) wires have some voltage drop, or power loss...
