240 was working now not... at a loss here

just checked the wires themselves. On the main side I have 118 and 121 as it comes out of the 100A breaker. On the sub panel side, 121 and now 24V ON THE WIRE as it connects to the main breaker... I don't understand what's happening. If I've lost the neutral somewhere, will I see voltage on...

240 was working now not... at a loss here

Hey guys. I'm in the final stages of my detached garage project (build thread forthcoming). I've had a 240v outlet powered in there for a couple weeks now for a heater which has been working just fine until last night. I have a 100A sub panel off of my 200A house main. The only thing running in...

    opinions on lighting plan

Sorry... guess I don't know what I need to know to find out what I want to know... = ) Space will be used primarily as a hobby, car/motorcycle building/restoration area. I have a couple workbenches with existing overhead lights. I'm basically looking for good overall general lighting. I...

    opinions on lighting plan

my apologies fellas... it read better when I first wrote it: work bench area will be along back wall furthest from garage doors. I plan on having surface mount fixtures thru out, not hanging. As you enter the garage thru a garage door, the first 10ft will be 10ft high ceiling. The loft storage...

    opinions on lighting plan

Hey guys, Here is a rough sketch of my lighting plan for my new garage that I'm building. Its 24x30 with 10ft walls. In the picture, where the 2 garage doors are, the ceiling will be 10ft (loft storage area). The remaining 20ft will be vaulted ceiling of around 13-14ft at the peak. Everything...

    24x30 or 26x28... Opinions?

I'm going to be building a garage this summer and I'm limited on my width to still have room to drive between the house and the garage for back yard access. At 26ft wide I have about 12ft between structures. Can anyone who has more experience with garages tell me if there are any pros or cons...

Help with hanging Sevillie cabinets sibe by side

after buying 4 cabinets and planning to hang them side by side I have discovered that I can't, at least not directly to the wall. The holes on the mounting brackets are 16" (stud distance) but the cabinets are about 3" wider on each side. SO... my idea is to mount 1x4x8's to the studs and then...

opinions on DIY running of natural gas line

Thank you all for your input. I have decided to pay to have the lines run by a professional. I don't mind learning and trying new things but I'll draw a line at those that can blow me and my family into nothing more than memories.
