I retired last September!!

This project is finished. New electric motor, wiring, paint, flywheel repair and added an indicator light. Just need to do a little plumbing. Oh, and I also moved it inside my shop. No more birds pooping on it, neighborhood cats sleeping on it, and dogs lifting their legs on it.

Got the flywheel machined. Enlarged the hole to match my new pump shaft and cut the keyway. Sprayed it with some truck bedliner and mounted it. It turns nice and true now.

I'm not rebuilding the pump. It works totally fine. I just fixed the flywheel shaft so it didn't warble.

Not bent anymore!!

I certainly can't see anything I did to bend that shaft during my tear down. Aren't those things forged? I bet you would have to drop the whole air compressor on concrete to bend it. I did use a block of wood and a hammer to tap the flywheel back on but noting hard enough to damage anything.

Here's what I found on the switch. The Allen-Bradley 800FD-SM22X10 is fully rated for a 240V circuit. This 22mm selector switch is built with standard contact blocks (rated B300 and AC-15), and supports up to 3 Amps on standard 240V AC applications.

Yep, this is why I am going through this thing since it's down. I will be ditching that piece of Romex. Also installing a different switch and maybe a indicator light. Crazy how that 120VAC switch worked just fine all these years.

The horse power rating of the motor is 3 HP 18 amps. On the NM in FMC are you talking about the wiring in the flex conduit going to the tank pressure switch? If so I agree a poor choice. It looks to be a piece of 12 gauge Romex. It is a really short run though.

I took a look at that light switch. It says "120VAC 15 amp only". Damn thing has been working like that for years and years. Yes there is a jumper on the two middle coil terminals. Looking at the little diagram it's wired for 240V.
