    Lawn Mower Advice

I'm not sure if this "counts", but long before Troy-Bilt got sucked up by MTD, they acquired Bolens and their line of mowers (among other things). They made some changes and refinements to the Bolens design over the years, so one could argue that it became a "Troy-Bilt" mower over time. I have...

Post a picture of your ratchets!!

Ah, the unusual Craftsman Stainless/Lifetime ratchets. Years ago I bought a 200+ piece craftsman set and they let me pay the difference between the standard RP ratchets to upgrade to these - I think I had to cough up around $50 above an beyond what I paid for the set for the upgrade, if memory...

Mr. Heater Big Buddy $72 at Menards

I have just the regular "portable buddy" heater and it's saved my **** twice when my furnace decided to go out once winter hit. I has able to heat my bedroom enough to stay comfortable, get some sleep and not be worried about zonking out from CO poisoning.

aimco brake rotors - anyone with experience

I've had such bad experiences with cheap rotors that the only thing I use now if not OEM is Centric premium.

Q for the Auto Mechanics here: Best Oil Filter? and worst? and what does dealer use?

I had a co-worker with a 3.9L Dakota that was asking me about a light tapping noise it had recently developed on startup. I quizzed him a bit about the noise, how long does it last, cold start/hot start, how long it had been going on, etc. It occurred to him it had started after a recent oil...

Q for the Auto Mechanics here: Best Oil Filter? and worst? and what does dealer use?

When you drive offroad, you see some strange stuff - branches puncturing radiators, oil pans, even the vehicle floorpan! Every little bit of extra protection is welcomed and appreciated. Also, don't assume because a company spent some money on one aspect of their product that they cut corners...

Q for the Auto Mechanics here: Best Oil Filter? and worst? and what does dealer use?

I'll second this. Baldwin filters are built like tanks. I'd swear you can hammer nails in with one without denting the outer shell.

    Ratchet preference

I cut my teeth on old low tooth count Craftsman RPs and thought an SK was some super exotic ratchet. These days my "users" are US made 60-tooth Craftsman thin profiles, but I have the 84 tooth Premium ratchets to fall back on when working in tight areas. I also have a variety of other...

Recomend me a plug gap gauge/guage/gage

I detest the "ramp" style ones. I prefer a closed wire design like a Champion CT-480 or similar - a bunch of companies make them. Here's an example of the CT-480...

Woot has Eagle steel 5 gallon gas cans 27.99

I can't stand these modern "CARB compliant" gas cans, although these look less annoying than most. The best solution anymore is to just get real NATO fuel cans like these: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/GJC20 Expensive, yes...but they go on sale all the time. Sometimes you can find used ones...
