    Stahlwille 515 Ratchet coo

That would have been my assumption, that " made in Germany" meant what it says just like "made in USA". Whereas just, " Germany" may be the equivalent of " assembled in the USA with globally sourced parts."

    Best German 3/8” ratchets?

I have purchased from KC Tools and Amazon. Once in a while KC Tools will run deals on some items, you just have to keep checking back. Mister Worker seems to have decent prices even with shipping, but I have not ordered from them yet. I think they are out of Italy.

    Best German 3/8” ratchets?

I like my Stahlwille and Gedore 3/8 drive ratchets and would recommend them. If you look around you can find good deals on them. I have two Stahlwille , a 435 QRN and a round head 422. In addition, I have the following Gedore ratchets: 3093u-20, 3093u-3, 3030gu-3 flex, and 3093u-10. I would...

    Stahlwille 515 Ratchet coo

If it is like the 3/8 drive version, model 422, the "Made in Germany" stamping will be on the underside of the ratchet. Whether that means that it is actually manufactured in Germany seems to be a point of contention on this internet.

    All from the same factory

I have a small set of made in India combination wrenches that saw a lot of use and abuse working on tractors and automobiles that are still going strong. I recall that they were purchased at either Otasco or Western Auto in the middle to late 1970's. Some Japanese and Taiwanese sets purchased...

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

The more attractive prices are one reason I went with Gedore as well. I also considered availability and reviews. I read more negative reviews of Hazet than either Gedore or Stahlwille. Sometimes people's opinions and biases taint the reviews and it is hard to tell until you get your own...

    Stahlwille nut splitter

No experience with Stahlwille nut splitter, but I do have a handful of Stahlwille ratchets and sockets, and they do seem to make quality products. I have a USA made Craftsman nut splitter that has served me well.

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

Sadly, even USA manufacturers have bad days as well. I have seen rachets that catch or have weak springs, sockets with no stamping and stamping running off the socket, items forged off center, etc. It's inevitable when you include the human factor.

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

I had never heard of them until about a year or two ago. They appear to be primarily a German industrial tool company with a hundred year history along the lines of Williams or Wright here in the USA. They kinda remind me of the Craftsman tools that my dad, brother and I used when I was...

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

True the Gedore warranty is for manufacturing defects. It doesn't appear to be the break and replace warranty of Craftsman and Snapon. Even Snapon refuses to warranty some items.

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

PureLeaf said:. "With the expansion of their Gedore Red value chinese line I'd be concerned of the direction of the company." Really with the globalization of today's economy, and globally sourced materials, I would be hard pressed to identify a tool company even a USA one that doesn't have an...

    Favorite 1/4" ratchet.

No single favorite yet, but I have three in contention for favorite 1/4 inch ratchet, in no particular order: Williams M-52 EHFA, Gearwrench 81016T and Napa Carlyle R14LFQR.

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

I now own both 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive Gedore metric socket sets, along with several Gedore ratchets and I am reasonably impressed with their quality. Much better fit and finish than the pictures from another person's post earlier this year. The sets should provide me with years of quality...

Good warranty replacement experience with Gedore Tools

I purchased a Gedore 30 HMU-10 3/8 drive metric socket set which I received from Amazon on November 15th of this year. Much to my disappointment it contained a defective 3090-5 extension (125 mm). The extension had no spring behind the ball that retains the socket. I contacted Gedore USA...
