I admire your ambition and drive. When I get off medical leave and back to work, count me in. I'm redoing parts of the house and removing baseboards and door casings and would love to reuse them without destroying them after pulling out the nails.

Anyone ever make a bolt thread/pitch checker like the type you'll find zip-tied to the shelf in the hardware aisle at Home Depot? I found some slick anodized ones for $80 bucks including metric and SAE, but I'd rather make something. My instint tells me to take a piece of 1" x 12" x 1/8" steel...

I recently was quoted roughly 35K for a 650-700 sq-ft standalone CBS garage. That puts it right at $50 per square foot and I'm in South Florida, not known for cheap building projects.

Agreed with all the above. Get some different gauge sheet metal from scrap or Home Depot, size the wire and respective tips, and practice, practice, practice. I'm no pro by any means, but before I weld anything, I always use a piece of scrap of similar material and gauge to practice on and...
