    wiring garage heaters

Branded under a different name, but essentially the same heater as Falcon. Here is a picture of the wiring instructions from the manual. This is all they have and now I see it doesn't say "neutral," it just says "white" wire. Is the white wire in this application supposed to be repurposed as a hot?

Ok, so I got a turnlok receptacle and plug and wired it up on both ends with 2-conductor (plus ground) #10 wire. The heater only has mounting points for 1 neutral, one hot and one ground. I am not making the connection to the panel, but I really don't get how 10-2 wire is going to connect to a...

All right, I'm inspired. This is essentially the same heater I have. Going to pick up the parts tonight...

Seville Classics Rolling Workbench on sale?

Too bad I don't live in Chicago anymore... Although if I still did, I probably wouldn't have room for this. :) Incidentally, I saw the Whalen Costco box yesterday that's in one of these threads and have to say at $565, I think it's worth the premium on the Sam's box at $399. But, at $225, I'd...

Where are you located, out of curiosity?

I've considered this, but mainly was shying away from it because of the added cost. The heater is a 30 amp, 250V, 2-conductor (with ground). I didn't check an electrical supply house, but the only 10-gauge cord wire I could find at HD was 10/4. I assume they make a 10/2 cord wire? I do kind of...

I thought I would bring this thread back from the dead, rather than start a new one. I have a similar (same?) heater and plan to hardwire it to the panel. However, my walls will be drywalled and I can't envision some conduit and or wire just emerging from the wall into the heater. What's...

    Garage storage/organization: I wish I would have...

Okay, so no open storage. I like the look of closed storage better anyway, so happy to hear this. I know there's no such thing as "too much" on this board, but in practice, did anybody feel like they overdid it on cabinets, tool cabinets, workbench size (thanks for the good advice on depth) or...

I don't use air as much as I though I would, but that might be because my compressor only pushes about 6 SCFM at 40 psi. That said, my plan now is to place the compressor in one back corner and run a line across the back wall with a few fittings spaced across the line. A retractable reel in the...

    Garage storage/organization: I wish I would have...

Okay, as the title suggests, how would you answer this question now that you've lived with your garage/shop setup for a while? I'm building a modest 24x20 two-car garage where (for the first time) I would like to have it setup with a little bit of dedicated shop space - workbench...

How should I run wire for fluorescents?

Good, I think this makes sense. I can fit two pieces of 14/2 in 1/2" KO of my own making with a romex clamp (have to check out the plastic ones; have only ever used the metal ones) for the in-feed and the out-feed to the next light and just staple each cable to the truss chord. I do have a...
