Yeah I really hate seeing stuff done within my lifetime being redone. Would've cost an extra $300 to do when they put the well in, or $5500 and alot headache later.
On a municipal scale the cost of being cheap and lazy is unimaginable. I see low time horizon problems constantly in Illinois.
I had a black poly water line fail at my office underground- no way to pinpoint.
110' or so all covered with concrete and asphalt. Conventional wisdom was cut the pavement and dig a trench, lay pipe, re-pave.
What I ended up finding instead was horizontal directional drilling- maybe overkill...
This must be news to all the manufacturers of stainless and powdercoated mild steel RO storage tanks. Tens of millions in this country alone I would think. Have you contacted anyone about this?
Mixing distilled with coolant is probably best practice as long as you got your mix right. I either use distilled or RO water when I service my vehicles. There's a specific mix of additives and chemicals in your coolant..the MFG cannot account for all variables of water quality so using the most...

If you want to keep a "stock" look and convert to 2x4ft T8 LED's I like this cover kit from PLT. I have a bajillion fixtures and I like only using 4FT tubes.
Trick is to precipitate it out of the water and then filter it. 1 mic sediment filters have a lot more capacity and a lot cheaper than RO membranes
This article does a good job of outlining the reasons I recommend hydrogen peroxide injection for nearly every well water scenario...
Not been through this scenario but a few chime ins
1: water in a reservoir stagnant is a likely candidate for bacterial growth- however- there is a good likelihood that you must or at least should control for biological contamination in your household water/ drinking water system anyways- I.E...
Stuff looks clean at first then looks dirty later- that's about all you tell from a clear housing. Filters should typically be changed and evaluated based on pressure differential or flowmeter readings
Never seen it happen. I have seen sumps and bowl strainers explode before but not typically...
Trying to find a replacement is going to be a crapshoot but if you want to do it quick you need to take good clear photos of the head design, threads inside the head, pictures of a sump with the threads intact etc with a good ruler in the photo for comparison purposes.
Then I would start...
Who owns the water meter and gate valve?
Why?
Assuming you have to keep the gate valve on there, the answer is still yes 1" line is worthwhile.
"Poly" tubing or HDPE Coil Pipe or Tube or whatever is usually rated in # and suitable for direct bury and used for such. How different is HDPE pipe...
