Nice job on your drill press restoration! I have to agree with you, I believe it is an Atlas or possibly a Dunlop. It looks similar but there are some differences to photos I've seen online including yours.
I picked up this drill press a while back for $35 and it had an old quarter horsepower Packard motor. It didn't work at the time and it still doesn't but I think it's missing some parts and I don't know the manufacturer. There appears to be a missing 2" round metal brand tag on the left side...
I am in need of a lower wheel axel shaft for my mid 80's Craftsman bandsaw. The current drive axel is worn so badly the lower wheel doesn't track straight. Any help would be great.
I just saw your post. I'm happy to pass on whatever knowledge I acquired in completing my restoration. I was learning as I went along and many parts were missing as the machine was incomplete when I acquired it.
Getting the tables mounted was not the most clearcut job for me and I had numerous...
I need some help figuring out what this motor was used for and if it has any value? Has anyone ever seen this motor before and this mount? The cord has been changed to a very lightweight consumer style. Any thoughts? Any advice? Anyone familiar with this model and how old it is?
Hey Bubinga,
Thank you for the link. My jointer doesn't have have a drilled pivot point just forward of the cutting cylinder for a blade cover. It is this reason that I believe it had the swing away arm assembly originally. I'm not really keen on drilling the in-feed table to install the...
Thought I would share my 1 1/2 year restoration project journey. I purchased two machines at a house in Hayward, California from a retired contractor. I initially went to see just an old crusty drill press which turned out to be a craftsman mohawk style from 1941 or 42 (a different story which...
I have sprayed them with a lubricant before I tried the motor out, but it's still quite noisy.
Thank you for your suggestion. I'll check them out again and try to lubricate them with a focus on doing it properly.
I need help replacing the bearings on the
115.6962 motor. I can't seem to remove the bell housings. Although, I am not sure I need to remove them to replace the bearings. I already got the motor painted without a complete disassembly but the bearing noise was so bad I need to go back and...
I picked up the same table saw about 3 weeks ago. The saw was working and sitting on an original stand but, terribly rusty. I'm working on getting it cleaned up now as it is all in pieces throughout my garage. I'm using the same method in getting the cast iron top cleaned up as you used. I...
I acquired a craftsman 103.0305 drill press about a year ago, and it is a rusted hulk. I have been slowly rebuilding it and found key parts are missing or damaged. I'm stuck on the quill disassembly since I have just ordered the chuck wedge removal tools. I also discovered the coil return spring...
