    Dimplex DGWH4031 is pretty nice!

I got my Dimplex DGWH4031 mounted and running in my 1 car uninsulated, but drywalled garage. It's 25 degrees outside, and after about an hour of the unit running my garage was very a comfortable temperature while wearing a sweatshirt. It was warm enough to not see my breath. I was skeptical when...

    Uncovered a code problem...

Confirmed that there isn't romex, and no ground wire. The only things hooked up to it are the garage light, and the outlet for the garage door opener. It's been ok for the past 25 years so I'm not too worried, but I'm going to have my brother in-law (electrician) fix it when he has some time...

    220v outlet mounting

    The ground is secure.

    220v outlet mounting

Is the point of the romex just to protect the insulation of the wire?

    220v outlet mounting

    The conduit is the ground.

    220v outlet mounting

Yeah...I figured. I have the power off right now, and I'll do it this weekend. Should I try running romex between the two boxes or conduit?

    220v outlet mounting

I definitely wouldn't leave it for someone else. It'd get disconnected.

    Uncovered a code problem...

It's not romex...just standard solid core 14 awg wire. Would it be a wise idea to tie romex to the end of the current wire and pull that through to replace what I've got? I know that it isn't a dire situation, and until we found this I never thought about it, but now it's gnawing away at my brain.

    220v outlet mounting

We ran 12 gauge wire down to my garage for a 220v/20amp outlet by fishing it through the existing conduit. We mounted the box for the outlet in the easiest place possible, but how we did it doesn't sit right with me. There is a flush mounted outlet sitting directly below where we mounted the...

    Uncovered a code problem...

Last night I had an electrician run a 220 circuit to my garage. There is an outlet and light fixture on the ceiling that looked like it was run through conduit. I turns out someone cheaped out and just ran the wires from the switch, up the wall, and across the ceiling (under the drywall) and...

Chicago garage with few options for heat...

This seems like a pretty good idea. If I where to put up three strong heat lamps around an area I'm going to be spraying in...do you think that might work? I could probably build a mini spray booth with overhead heat lamps.

Chicago garage with few options for heat...

Unfortunately, no. We live in a townhome where the garage is at ground level and the living quarters are on the second floor (with the breaker box). My brother in-law is a union electrician, but I can't get him over here to help me out. This isn't our forever home so I'm hoping for a temporary...

Chicago garage with few options for heat...

I have a one car garage that is dry walled (not sure if it's insulated). I want to take some of the chill out of the air, and spot heat areas when I decide to spray paint. A 1500 watt electric heater is blowing my breaker, and I can't run a vented propane system because I can't cut in vents...

Awesome. Exactly what I needed to know!

    Pancake air compressors and tools?

I got one of those 3 gallon oil-less pancake compressors for Christmas. For pumping car tires and using a blow gun it seems like it's going to do ok, but are there any low CFM tools I should look into?
