Replace Wood Support Beam With Steel

I did, to a point. I had an engineer out, he developed options and provided specs and drawings for each. Drilled some test holes to see what is what, and it turns out the beam that's there is steel. Received an estimate on doing the work, but have not pulled the trigger on it yet.

    4 post lift ????

Went through this last year, and ended up with the Wildfire. Had an issue, and their customer support took care of it and more than compensated for any inconvenience. I'm sure they are both great lifts, the Customer Service experience with Wildfire was excellent. I'd make the same choice...

Replace Wood Support Beam With Steel

Thanks. Have an appointment with an engineer to take a look, and draw up a design. I don’t expect any pipes above, but there are wires. If I do this, and modify the door to high-lift, I should be able to stack the cars on the lift.

Replace Wood Support Beam With Steel

Thank you. I believe It's a dropped beam. I've snaked wires over it to add electrical outlets to the front of the garage, so it can't be flush. If I do use the same beam with joist hangers, I assume I'll pick up the depth of the joist by converting it to a flush mount. Just checked the...

Replace Wood Support Beam With Steel

Recently moved into a new place and installed a Wildfire Lift. The ceiling is right at 10' but I have to deal with a beam supporting the room over the garage and the rest of the structure. I'd like to minimize the impact of the beam and am considering replacing it with steel. The current beam is...

4 Post 9000 Pound LIft owners, I have a question.

Thanks for the confirmation. Looks exactly like my jack and shows the clearance.

Fair point. I don't see why I couldn't use the sliding jack as intended, on the main rails. Am I missing something?

It might work, but as you say, with all the weight on the minimal surface area, the pads would wear quickly. And there would not be much room for slop when sliding the jack. Thanks, that would be plenty of clearance.

Can one of you post up the measurement of your Bendpack lift as done by @Poolshark314?

4 Post 9000 Pound LIft owners, I have a question.

The existing jack is sliding, I want to know if it can be used on a lift with a j-channel. Based on your measurement, it looks like it would work on an Atlas. Here is a pic of the jack I own. I'm kind of spoiled at this point. I want a sliding or rolling bridge jack if I go 4-post again.

4 Post 9000 Pound LIft owners, I have a question.

I have a sliding bridge jack I took when we moved from my previous home, thinking I could use this on my next 4 Post lift. I had an 8000 pound Direct Lift that had rails with no support for a rolling jack. I see the current crop of 9000 pound lifts do have a different type of rail to support...

Autokato mid rise scissor lift review

I’m not with the car right now, I did measure it at one point and the jack points on that car were less than 60”. Largest span I have in a car right now is less than 65”

Wheelbase is 97 inches. Longer than the Miata, so I suppose it will work well enough.

Autokato mid rise scissor lift review

Thanks for the insights so far. Hard to find much info on this lift. Looking at it this now. I have a short wheelbase car in the garage. Can the extensions be easily detached?

Autokato mid rise scissor lift review

Maybe build a ramp and platform over the bars with some plywood and 2x4s or whatever is needed to clear the bars? A couple of additional questions: Did you purchase this through a dealer or direct from AutoKato? At the highest lock, what is the height of the lift platforms?
