Is it basecoat/clearcoat or single stage paint? I'd consider wetsanding it if it's the latter.

I'm all for preserving a repairable tool, but replacing the cells is not cheap. I would take a hard look at using this as an excuse to move to a lithium-ion based platform (and consolidate brands that share batteries). You could sell your old stuff, too.

+1 for the Milwaukee kit. The batteries fit a ton of other tools. I understand the Fuel batteries are compatible with regular M18 tools.

Even if you had to pay for the handle, it would feel like a new tool for $15

I think it has something to do with ebay bucks. They can only be spent on ebay, and expire quickly. Gift cards go for close to face value or even a little over.
