If you've got the clearence under your car/truck, you can get 6.5' out of the BendPac two post with their 6" extensions.

I use the mesh mat from Harbor Freight. Your tools do stick to it a bit but it doesn't bunch up, it's cheap, and in the two years I've been using it it doesn't react with oil on the tools or any other chemical I've exposed it to. I have some Sears stuff in another box and prefer the HF stuff...
